DevInfo 6.0 is a new version of the DevInfo database technology. The new version has significant advancements in usability with a reduced learning curve for first-time users. DevInfo 6.0 includes powerful new data presentation methods, enhanced web collaboration and extended mapping features.
The new version leverages innovations in social networking technology to broaden the community of users and promote the use of data to advocate for human development. The aim of DevInfo 6.0 is to further strengthen the monitoring of progress toward human development goals and to optimize the use of information technology to access data related to human development, particularly the Millennium Development Goals.
The new functional requirements of DevInfo 6.0 are in response to the experience and insights of thousands of DevInfo users around the world. These requests for enhancements and new features were reviewed and formalized by the DevInfo Field Reference Group in Dec 2007 with participation from 10 UN Agencies.
New features in DevInfo 6.0
DevInfo 6.0 harnesses the power of Web 2.0 technology for enhanced social networking. The user interface includes simplified strategies to access data with “zero” training for first-time users. The database system improves performance for large data sets and has new, animated data presentation objects.
No training required for existing DevInfo 5.0 users
DevInfo 6.0 builds on the technology of DevInfo 5.0. Users of DevInfo 5.0 do not need to be re-trained to use DevInfo 6.0.
Conversion of DevInfo 5.0 database to DevInfo 6.0 not required
DevInfo 6.0 will automatically convert your DevInfo 5.0 database to DevInfo 6.0.
No need to re-install DevInfo 6.0
DevInfo 6.0 will automatically upgrade DevInfo 5.0 to DevInfo 6.0. The upgrade is provided by a setup CD and by online upgrade options.
