MaldivInfo 1.0
From di Wiki
The DevInfo adaptation, “MaldivInfo 1.0”, has been developed by the Ministry of Planning and National Development (MPND), Maldives, in collaboration with UNICEF and other UN agencies. The database system is based on the commitment of the ministry to support the statistical data requirements of policy-makers and to facilitate the development of an effective and efficient national Statistical System in the Maldives.
This new Dhivehi version, adapted from DevInfo v5.0 database technology, is a repository of more than 280 national indicators and over 70,000 data values available from four national Censuses (1990, 1995, 2000 and 2006) and the Statistical Yearbooks since 1990. Its presentation capabilities provide policymakers, media and the general public current information on key social indicators used to track progress towards the MDGs. Users can query data by indicators, time periods and areas whereby indicators are organized by sectors, goals, themes and other data management schemes.
The database system has helped in streamlining and standardizing national statistics in the Maldives. It has more than 280 indicators and more than 70,000 data values available from four national Censuses, 25 years of statistics, and 7 national surveys. This also includes MDG indicators calculated from four census databases (1990, 1995, 2000 & 2006) down to the island level with standardized indicator definitions as per Maldives and the Statistical Yearbooks since 1990.
MaldivInfo operates both as a desktop application as well as on the web. The desktop application can be downloaded from
www.maldivinfo.planning.gov.mv, while the online version can be accessed at www.maldivinfo.planning.gov.mv/home.aspx. The database system helps in generating tables, graphs and maps for reports and presentations to explain the statistical processes used to monitor human development in the country.
