Creating Area Groupings in DevInfo Database Administration

The Mapping module in DevInfo Database Administration provides you with many advanced features to manage mapping issues for a DevInfo database. The mapping utilities enable manual addition and linking of shapefiles to areas based on area IDs. You can also remove or update the currently associated shapefile, add features to specific areas and define new geographical groupings for the areas existing in the template.

The Mapping module provides you with the following options:

1. Mapping: Here you can append administrative boundaries (base layer) with the area IDs, split composite map files and link more than one base layer to an area ID.

2. Features: You can associate features with the Area IDs; add features such as Rivers, Road Network, Schools and Hospital.

3. Groups: You can create area groupings based on specified criteria. The Groups option lets you combine multiple Areas and create Area groups. Area groupings help you to undertake regional analysis of data. For example, if you have a special focus on the Sub Saharan Africa region, then you use this option to combine the individual map files of the countries in these places and create one file to represent the region.
