Viewing metadata on a selected Area in DevInfo

Metadata is data about data. It lets the user describe and define the structure of data in a generally agreed standard. In DevInfo, any user can view additional DevInfo related information on an indicator and area by highlighting the indicator or area and clicking on the button. For example, if you wanted more information on the country Argentina classified under Area, then by clicking on the button you would get additional information on the Dataset Title, Theme Keywords, Dataset Topic Category (ISO) etc.

In DevInfo Database Administration, the Metadata module lets you add or modify information on the various elements of database or template such as Indicator, Area, Source and Indicator Classifications. This information helps you to locate, access, compare, and share statistical data.

The Metadata module lets you enter, edit and import metadata in XML format, which is a widely adopted standard for data exchange. The metadata format adopted in DevInfo is compliant with International XML metadata standards such as The SDMX v1.0 for Indicator definition, The ISO 19115 standard for spatial data (maps) definition and The DDI and Dublin Core standard for Source definition.
