By the end of 2005, just over 15 per cent
of the world’s population were using
the Internet. However, the proportions are
skewed in favour of richer countries. Over
half the population in developed regions
were using the Internet in 2005, compared
to 9 per cent in developing regions and
1 per cent in the 50 least developed countries.
