Achievement Award and will have his/her photo published on our website, along with a brief description of his/her submissions.

Ms. Kamalova spearheaded the launch of UzbekInfo in Uzbekistan in June 2010 by the Government of Uzbekistan, in partnership with the UN Country Team, as a tool to monitor the country’s progress towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals and other national priorities. Coinciding with the launch was a four-day training course on the use of this new database. Already, UzbekInfo has been used to prepare the country’s National MDG Report for 2010 and the National Human Development Report of Uzbekistan on Regional Disparities.

The Government of Uzbekistan along with the UNCT is to be commended for these positive steps in using data to track human development progress.

By keeping us updated on these important developments as well as a sending in a news article summarizing these events, Ms. Kamalova earned a DevInfo Achievement Award for her efforts to keep us up-to-date on the progress of Devinfo in her country. We commend both her and the Government of Uzbekistan for their efforts to date to introduce DevInfo database technology for monitoring human development, and we look forward to continued updates on in-country DevInfo usage in the days to come.
